The Olympics are a pretty exciting time. I remember as a kid in school watching the Olympics in class and making dioramas of the winter sports, I think I made a bobsled track, or at least my parents did.
One thing I've noticed with everyone I talk to about the Olympics this year is how passionate everyone is. Maybe its because it's in Vancouver, but there is a sense of pride in the sports and the country I see in people who don't usually show that kind of emotion. So many people talk about "our team" or say "we" when Canada wins a medal or the hockey team plays horribly.

125 787 700 for 23 doesn't seem like a good trade to me. If I had 125 787 700 apples and you wanted to trade them all for 23 oranges, it would just not be worth it for me, in fact, I'd feel ripped off if that trade went through.
But on Saturday night as I watched the Olympic men's moguls race it seemed like those numbers didn't matter. As I watched the race that eventually Canada got its first gold medal at home with, the announcer said that Alexander Bilodeau after the last olympics trained for four years to win this 23 second race. 4 years for 23 seconds, that is 125 787 700 seconds for 23. Would that be a good trade? Would that be worth it? Since he won gold we say yes, but what if he didnt, would it still be worth it?
Is there anything in my life I would trade that much time for to be good at? Probably if I knew there would be a substantial reward at the end of it, yes. But what if the only reward was the time I put into it? Those seconds I will never get back, would it be worth it?
Tomorrow begins a season called Lent. It is the 40 days before the celebration of Easter. Typically in some Christian beliefs Lent is a time of sacrifice, where we give up something we like so that when we crave it we can bring ourselves to focus on God more.
40 days that's 3 456 000 seconds, what is worth giving up for that long so that you can be more connected with God? Would the reward be worth it?

A few months ago for I decided to read through the book of Isaiah for my personal devotional time. Isaiah, in my oppinion is an amazing book, telling the story of a man who was apprehensive as to what God could do through him, and ultimatley it tells the story of what God has done, is doing and will do.

Hey everybody!
So I was sitting in the basement of the lovely outreach center that I call my home away from home and got thinking, "Hey people don't know enough about my every thought I need to bombard them in more ways with my random ramblings." And since Twitter, Facebook and Google Wave don't seem to be cutting it, I decided to kick it old school and start blogging. Yes Blogging is now old school if you didn't know.
