West Edge is a church designed specifically for those who have not really attended church since they were a kid or for those with no church background at all. West Edge realizes that there are significant "BUT's" as to why people don't go to church anymore, and that is why our vision is for your church experience to be meaningful, relevant, and something you won't want to miss each week, no matter how big your "BUT" has been! West Edge takes a very non-religious approach to church (check out our Core Values and Beliefs for a deeper look at West Edge). We're all about a comfortable, relaxed environment, and we respect your anonymity - so you can be as involved or as uninvolved as you choose to be! West Edge has a passion for excellence. Our Sunday morning messages address topics that are relevant to challenges of life in the new millennium. Cover tunes, movie clips, multi-media, and dramas all help bring God's eternal teachings back down to earth. Our goal is for you to leave hopeful, inspired, and with practical insights into the kinds of moral, spiritual, and relational issues you face throughout the week. Our Creation Story Once upon a time (April 2000), 18 people set out on a journey to start a cutting-edge Christian community whose main priority would be to reach people who had either never attended church or had given up on it for various reasons. During that first year, West Edge was formed and began holding Sunday morning services at Clarkson Secondary School's theatre where it grew to more than 160 people from both churched and unchurched backgrounds. Today, West Edge holds true to its original vision of reaching people with God's love, helping the hurting and building authentic community. Sunday morning service are now held at the more roomy auditorium at Port Credit Secondary School (using rental facilities instead of purchasing a permanent facility means more of our resources can be poured directly into ministering people). The fall of 2004 saw the grand opening of the West Edge Outreach Centre, which is home to programs for kids and families, drop-in centre for teens, counseling services for the hurting, and offices for staff. Over the next 10 years, West Edge is committed to starting five satellite churches throughout the GTA, all with the same cutting-edge vision. |
