Baptism: An Outward Sign of an Inward Commitment

Baptism is party-time at West Edge! A time to go public with your faith and an official way of entering into the Christian community. So, invite your friends and family and, along with your spiritual family at West Edge, they can watch and listen as you declare, "I am taking 'the plunge' and going on record. Hold me accountable to this. I am publicly professing my faith in Jesus. This is the primary commitment of my life! And today I'm saying that I'm not ashamed to display my faith openly." Healthy families have family pride; members are not ashamed to be recognized as a part of the family.

It's important to remember that sometimes the public profession part of baptism will be a very celebrated event among your friends and family and other times it may not. (It will certainly be celebrated amongst your family at West Edge!) But going public with your faith through baptism is a sure way to help friends and family begin to understand your commitment to Christ.

Baby Dedication: Making a commitment to raise children who love God

Because the symbolism of Baptism requires a cognitive and developmental readiness, West Edge does not baptize infants. Instead, parents and family members are invited to make a public commitment to teach their children about God and raise them with a strong biblical foundation. West Edge does this through a formal Baby Dedication Ceremony where the entire church community agrees to partner with the parents' and covers the family in prayer.
