MOPS at West Edge
About MOPS

imageWhat is MOPS?
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS groups exist to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban, and rural moms; stay-at-home moms and working moms; teen, single and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS groups provide relationships for moms in an accepting atmosphere where they are reminded that they are not alone.

What Goes on at MOPS?
MOPS at West Edge is all about being real! The first few years of mothering can be intense -- so we moms have to stick together! MOPS is all about keeping moms feeling connected, loved, appreciated, and most importantly, celebrated. Read a letter from the Coordinator.

Guest Speakers
Each year, MOPS invites different guest speakers whose main purpose is to provide inspiration and information that is relevant to the life of the mom.

Small Group Discussion
Small groups give moms a chance to connect with each other while reflecting on the information provided by the speaker, as well as a time to share their own challenges, triumphs, questions and concerns.

MOPS Mentors
MOPS believes professional experts are a great resource, but often times moms need more than "just the facts." They need women who have been there, done that and have the kind of hands-on experience that is essential to giving personal and insightful counsel. MOPS mentors do just that!

When and where does MOPS meet?
MOPS groups meet every Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the West Edge Outreach Centre located at 4 Mississauga Road North (corner of Mississauga Road and Lakeshore). Summer play date locations vary.

Is there childcare?
Yes! MOPS understands that moms are not able to relax unless they know their kids are safe and happy. That is why MOPS runs a parallel program for babies and toddlers downstairs called MOPPETS. The MOPPETS program at W.E. is a safe, nurturing environment where babies and toddlers are encouraged to explore, play and make new friends. MOPPETS caregivers ensure that play time centers around activities that are as educational as they are fun.

How Can I Become a Part of MOPS?
All moms with children between birth-5 years can be a part of MOPS. There is a $25 registration fee per season (subsidies are available). To register, contact Jen Egart, Coordinator, at (905) 819-0472 or call the West Edge Outreach Centre at (905) 274-6564 x224.
