Samantha
My name is Samantha, and I have grown up as a Christian, having been a regular church attendee my entire life. West Edge has been my church family through every chapter of my life, surrounding me with fellow believers who embrace everyone for who they are. This church community is a place that builds authentic community that isn’t caught up in appearances and church politics. As I started asking the hard questions and challenged my faith, I was always encouraged to seek answers through my faith in God. West Edge is where I feel that I belong for who I am and my identity in Christ.

West Edge is my home! I came here about 4 years ago and I was so nervous to go to a church that wasn’t the Catholic Church I was used to. I was greeted by Pastor Matthew and his wife Mary-Beth. I instantly felt welcomed and at ease. Over the years I have volunteered at many different church events, helped the less fortunate and got to learn the word of the Lord. This church has helped me to get closer to God and actually seek Him in my everyday life. Thank you West Edge for accepting me as I am and for welcoming me with open arms.

West Edge has been there for me and my mind, sanity, and cared for my heart and soul when I couldn’t do so for myself. After searching for 20 years for a church that wouldn’t judge me for my past, I was ready to give up on church altogether. I finally asked God to help me find a place where I could belong. It was the LAST chance I was ever going to give to any church. I was done searching and I couldn’t bring myself to believe that it was how God wanted it. West Edge helped me see what “home” with Christ looks like. I have come to see my true identity in Christ. I love this place because just like God, the West Edge community loved me first.

We joined West Edge in the spring of 2017. Neither one of us had been particularly religious growing up. The church community has embraced our family with open arms. Our children love the Kids’ Quest program and often remark that going to church is their favourite weekend activity. Pastor Matthew’s weekly sermons strike a chord with us and we always find ourselves moved by his words. They help guide us in our marriage and help us navigate life as parents and business owners. Joining West Edge was one of the best things we could have done for our family.

Whenever anyone asks me about my church I always answer “it’s very unique.” Sure as a young adult, I originally started attending because it’s a unique type of service with its cafe type atmosphere, current music and relevant message but the part I’m referring to when I say unique is the relationships among people. West Edge is a church where people come as they are and embrace one another for their differences. I love that West Edge is a community beyond Sunday mornings. It is a church built upon authentic relationships and is an authentic representation of the love of Christ. I love being part of a community that seeks to know one another better through a deepening faith in Jesus.
